The Northwestern Ontario Women’s Centre is seeking applications for a part time Coordinator for the Thunder Bay Good Food Box Program.
Duration: 6 months, to be extended as funding becomes available
Start Date: April 18th, 2011
Wage and Hours: 21 hours per week @ $20 per hour
Duties include:
Operation of existing food box program, which includes:
- responding to inquiries
- receiving orders and payment from host sites and individuals
- recruitment, training, coordination and recognition of volunteers
- collating and ordering of monthly food shipment
- ongoing collection of program statistics
- coordination of food packing and distribution on delivery day; box retrieval and cleaning.
- promotion and coordination of locally grown box fundraising program
Implementing operational policies and procedures
Development of promotional materials, public presentations on the GFB program
Maintenance of working connections with local food retailers and producers
Coordination of annual meeting and report
Regular reports to GFB and NOWC board of directors
Qualifications:
Strong and demonstrated organizational skills
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated numeracy, cash handling and record keeping skills
Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work respectfully across difference
Computer literacy, including spreadsheets and data management
Ability to work independently
Understanding of the issues of food security and low income people
Experience with volunteer coordination and non profit organizations an asset
Must possess valid driver’s license
Physical ability and stamina to lift 35 lb boxes repeatedly
