10yearcookbook

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Thanks to amazing supporters like you, The Thunder Bay Good Food Box program is making affordable, high quality fruits and vegetables available to people in neighborhoods across the city.  Our 2015 Fundraising efforts have yielded over $10,000!! Over $7,000 of which was directly from sales of locally grown (& made) fundraiser boxes!!

In 2015, we packed 4137 boxes of fresh fruits and vegetables for our regular Good Food Box program. With an average of 2.51 people eating out of each box, that’s and estimated 10,342 bellies in our community consuming fresh healthy affordable produce!

This year we purchased 18,526 lbs of local potatoes, 1160 local Squash, 4,145 lbs of local Carrots, 1,170 ears of local Corn just to name a few!  …All tallied, from January-December 2015, the Good Food Box has spent $29,332.89 on locally grown and produced goods! Money spent locally, supports our local farmers and strengthens the capacity of our local food system.

Thank you for supporting community food security; we couldn’t do it without you!

This holiday season we are selling cookbook ZINES!  The cost is $2 (just covers printing and paper)… If you are in a position to add $7 you will be subsidizing the cost of one Good Food Box for one of our volunteers (for more info on pricing, please see below). Zines contain some of our favourite recipes from the past 10 years, including recipes shared by the Bliss Café, The Growing Season, The Blue Door Bistro & The Silver Birch… would make a great stocking stuffer!!

Zines are available for pick up from the Northwestern Ontario Women’s Centre (located 184 Camelot St).    Call or e-mail for more information 345-7819 / [email protected]
